# Greek sculpture models

Nine distinct 3D scans supplied by **SMK – National Gallery of Denmark, Royal Cast Collection**, Copenhagen. Each museum record identifies the material as public domain (`public_domain: true`) and supplies the **Creative Commons Public Domain Mark 1.0** rights URL. Rights and direct downloads were checked on 23 September 2026.

## Commercial reuse

[SMK’s reuse policy](https://www.smk.dk/article/vaerker-til-fri-download/) explicitly covers both images and 3D scans and permits downloading, modifying and reusing public-domain reproductions, including commercially. The [Public Domain Mark 1.0 deed](https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/mark/1.0/) likewise states that commercial copying, modification and distribution require no copyright permission. This is a public-domain designation, not a CC BY or CC0 license.

The credit below is retained for provenance. Museum names identify the source of the scans and do not imply endorsement of this website or its agent roles.

The cast/sculpture artist is recorded by SMK as unknown (`Ubekendt`). The filenames use familiar English figure names; `poseidon.glb` retains the museum’s attribution of **Zeus or Poseidon**, and Aphrodite is the **Venus de Milo**. Socrates and Dionysus are busts; Demeter is seated.

## Web versions

The original museum STLs were reduced to 40,000 triangles each, converted to glTF 2.0 GLB, centered, and given smooth vertex normals and a teal material. No textures or external dependencies are required. Each model is approximately 0.96 MB; the nine GLBs total 8,647,416 bytes.

All files use **+Y up**, stand **two units high**, and face the viewer at **+Z** with zero rotation. Their bounding boxes are centered at the origin. Front orientation was checked visually for all nine models from four angles.

The conversion used Trimesh 5.1.0 and fast-simplification 0.2.0 with a 40,000-face quadric decimation target, a -90-degree X rotation from STL Z-up, bounding-box centering, and uniform scaling by `2 / height`. The original files remain available from the museum download URLs; only the optimized versions are shipped here.
